Harper Leads in 74th Assembly District Fundraising

Huntington Beach, CA - Huntington Beach Mayor Matthew Harper announced today that his campaign reported raising $56,030 during the last reporting period. This is nearly $10,000 more than his opponent Keith Curry. Harper for Assembly also has $46,614 cash on hand which is over $10,000 more than Curry.

"I am very grateful for this initial outpouring of support for my campaign, but we have just begun. We plan on holding more neighborhood based fundraisers through the summer. Our message of lower taxes, less spending, and more individual liberty resonates with the voters of the 74th Assembly District," said Harper.

Harper for Assembly Fundraising Chairman Ed Laird added that this initial report shows, "...we will have the funds to get our message out. Voters need to know that Keith Curry has voted to raise fees hundreds of times, put forward proposals to fund the bullet train by increasing gas taxes by 5 cents per gallon and increasing the state sales tax by ½ of a percent, and under Curry's watch a new city hall was built that cost the taxpayers over $90 million dollars above the initial estimates."

Huntington Beach is the largest city in the 74th Assembly District. Other cities include: Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, and Newport Beach.

Matthew Harper is a graduate of Huntington Beach High School and the University of Southern California. Prior to his election to the City Council Matthew served on the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees for 12 years. Matthew and his wife Elizabeth are home owners in Huntington Beach.
