Former Huntington Beach Mayor, Matthew Harper

Matthew Harper was raised in Huntington Beach and attended local public schools, including Huntington Beach High School. He attended Orange Coast College and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Public Policy & Management. In 1998, Matthew was elected to the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees and then re-elected for a total of three complete terms. In 2010, Harper was elected to the Huntington Beach City Council and served as Mayor from 2013 through 2014.
In 2014, then-Mayor Matthew Harper was elected to represent the citizens of Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Woods and Laguna Beach in the California State Assembly for the 74th District. Harper served in that role until 2018. Matthew Harper and his wife Elizabeth are homeowners in Huntington Beach and enjoy actively serving their community.
