Assemblyman Matthew Harper, 74th District (R)

Matthew Harper was raised in Huntington Beach and attended local public schools, including Huntington Beach High School. He attended Orange Coast College and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Public Policy & Management. In 1998, Matthew was elected to the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees and then re-elected for a total of three complete terms. In 2010, Harper was elected to the Huntington Beach City Council and served as Mayor from 2013 through 2014.
In 2014, then-Mayor Matthew Harper was elected to represent the citizens of Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Woods and Laguna Beach – a role he continues to serve in to this day. Assemblyman Matthew Harper and his wife Elizabeth are homeowners in Huntington Beach.
